Starting this week, Expo 2017 in Astana will kick-off. World leaders, innovators, and interested citizens alike, will descend upon Kazakhstan’s capital to discuss and learn about this year’s theme: Future Energy.
IRENA will be actively participating at the exposition, including in a Ministerial Dialogue on Renewable Energy in Central Asia, as part of the Energy Ministerial Conference: Meeting the Challenge of Sustainable Energy.
On 11 June 2017, within the framework of the Energy Ministerial, countries of Central Asia and IRENA released a Communiqué on accelerating renewable energy deployment in the region. The Communiqué identifies six key areas to facilitate the up-take of renewables and help diversify the region’s energy mix.
From 12 to 14 June, within the 8th International Forum on Energy for Sustainable Development, the Agency lead various renewable energy related sessions, and on 20 June, IRENA will conduct a round table discussion on REmap: Global Renewable Energy Outlook at the World Scientific and Engineering Congress.
If you’re visiting the Expo, you can familiarise yourself with IRENA’s activities by exploring the Pavilion of International Organizations, where the Agency will have a booth throughout the three months of the Exposition.
